The CMT will continue granting television licenses by cable
The Commission de the Market de Telecomunicaciones (CMT) will continue granting licenses to companies that defer television by cable, although the Ministry de Science and Technology has interposed an administrative contentious resource before the National Hearing against this practice.
The CMT has granted several tens de licenses de type C, that they qualify to the companies to disclose audio-visual services. According to they indicated, these companies they cannot program, nor produce televising contents, since for it they would need a concession, but are qualified to act like “disseminators”.
The CMT does not consider that these companies can harm the business de companies like Ono, Madritel, Mint, Supercable, Canary Able or Telecom, that obtained their licenses to serve de cable (telephony, television and Internet) through contest, with strong commitments de investment, since they are “different” businesses.
On the other hand, from Science and Technology it is considered that the attribution de these licenses “is not legal”, and for that reason an administrative contentious resource against the CMT has interposed.
