The crisis sweeps two thirds de the discharges de moving body clients
The economic crisis is being fattened during the last months with the Spanish market de the movable telecommunications. During the past November, according to the last data de the Commission de the Market de Telecomunicaciones (CMT), the discharges in movable telephony reached the 65,176 lines, less than half de which were contracted in October (145.056) and as soon as a third de the 183,000 discharges that were registered in November de 2007.
For the first time in the last year, the contract discharges, that maintained their rate de growth, a 8.3% more, with 92,619 new line in November, they were not accompanied by the evolution de the pre-payment segment. During this month, the operators lost 27,443 clients in the card modality.
Although, traditionally, part de the losses in pre-payment becomes contract discharges, a process de migration promoted by the own operators, the virulence de the crisis has turned these losses in lost clients by the operators.
Accumulated fall
During the eleven first months de 2008, the companies de moving bodies added 1.55 million discharges, a 56% less than in the same period de the previous year, that was closed with 3.41 million discharges in movable telephony. The accumulated number de 2008 includes the means cleaning million clients who Orange carried out in March. They were paid inactive, that did not use the services de the company.
Altogether, November finalized with 50.62 million lines de movable telephony, which supposes an annual increase de 4.4%. This growth must to the contribution de the contract discharges, since the pre-payment modality underwent an annual backward movement de 1%, until the 20.32 million lines.
According to the data de the CMT, Yoigo was the operator who registered a greater growth between September, October and November, when concentrating 34.4% de the total de discharges; followed de Orange (26.1%) and the set de virtual movable operators (24%). With these data, Telefónica and Vodafone, leaders de the sector with more de 70% de the total market, would have caught as soon as 15% de the new clients in the three last months.
In battle de the portability, the system that allows to change de operator without losing the number, in November occurred 303,505 changes, which supposes a reduction de 7.6% with respect to the same month de 2007. Orange, with positive a net balance de 12,000 lines, and Yoigo, that caught 7,500 clients more de those than it lost, gained the game to Telephone and Vodafone, that remained without 4,000 and 20,500 clients, respectively, at the hands de their rivals. In accumulated the annual one, nevertheless, the Gallic operator appears like the great victim.
Broadband
The market de access to broadband Internet recovered slightly, when obtaining 86,404 new line in November, five thousand more than in October, although far from the 145,000 discharges de the same month de the previous year.
Jazztel and Tele2-Vodafone were the most active operators, whereas Telefónica and Orange caught clients below their quota de market.
