The electronic commerce grew a 40% during 2008
The transaction de goods and services through Internet moved a volume de business de 5,183 million Euros in Spain during 2008, a 40% more than in 2007, according to the last data de the Report de IV the Quarterly one on Electronic Commerce published by the CMT. The airplane ticket sale was the activity that generated more income during the year, with a total de 707 million Euros. Nevertheless, for the first time from 2003, the income by this type de activity fell with respect to the preceding year; concretely a compared 26% with 2007, when 960 million Euros were entered.
The second place in the ranking de the purchases by vol. de income was for the tourist operator and travel agencies, who invoiced a total de 633 million Euros, almost a 40% more than in 2007. One de the activities that also registered a high volume de income was the terrestrial transport de travellers, with 309 million Euros, a 262% more than in 2007.
As far as the number de transactions, during 2008 66.2 million operations, a 41.8% more than in 2007 were entered.
The Spanish companies monopolize 54% de the income
For the first time from 2002, the purchases realized to Spanish Web sites were those that more weight they by vol. had de income, representing 54.7% de the total de the income by electronic commerce, to reaching the 2,839 million Euros. Within this chapter the purchases realized from Spain to Spanish Web sites (2,059 million Euros) and the purchases realized from the foreigner and to Spanish Web sites take shelter (780 million Euros). On the contrary, the purchases realized from Spain to foreign Web sites represented 45.2% de the total de income, to reaching the 2,344 million Euros.
By geographic areas, most de the purchases that were realized from the foreigner and to Spanish Web sites were from the European Union (513 million), with a 65% de the registered income, followed de the USA, with 126 million Euros, a 16% de the total.
On the other hand, the favorite destinies de the Spanish buyers in foreign Web sites were: the countries de the European Union, that received a 86% de the business (2,034 million). The purchases with located Web sites in the United States reached 175 million Euros, a 7% de the total.
Fourth trimester
During the fourth trimester de 2008, the rate de inter-annual growth de electronic commerce slowed down with respect to preceding trimesters, with an increase de 22%, until reaching the 1,248, 7 million Euros. The aerial transport (10%), direct marketing (9.7%) and the tourist operations with travel agencies and operators (9.2%), were the activities that registered a greater volume de business during this period.
