More than five hundred projects de telecommunications in the roadside ditch
From small operators de niche to tens de city councils, happening through telephone information services they have thrown the towel in the other face de the liberalization de the sector.
In the last three years, the reality de the market has finished with the plans de business de 560 projects de telephony determines and moving body, some de them not even initiated, in Spain. According to the registry de licenses de the Commission de the Market de Telecomunciaciones (CMT), the regulator de the sector, the licenses de these operators “by the lack de notification de their intention have been cancelled to continue with the activity”.
One is projects that have not requirido the renovation de their license during the three last years. Before the cancellation, the employees de the CMT have put themselves in contact with the people in charge de these operators during several months, and a prorogation has even occurred to try to contact with all de them. Peculiarly, in the case de a group de forty de companies or jurídicias people enrolled in the registry, the technicians nor so at least have obtained answer to their requests.
Different expositions
Between the 560 projects de telecommunications that are lost their license it has de everything. From small operators de telecommunications for companies, to projects de telephone information services, passing through city councils and physical people. Most, according to sources de the sector, is small projects de reventa de minutes de fixed telephony.
This business, that had certain niche de market in the beginning de the liberalization, has been losing use, nevertheless, before the strong reduction de prices in the fixed communications de voice that have driven the operator traditional, very centered in the access to broadband Internet, and the irruption de new competitors like Skype.
A second significant group de companies to which the CMT has retired the license by inactivity is formed by a twenty de city councils de small localities. Some de these municipalities had plans to defer access de telecommunications, mainly through the wireless technology Wi-Fi, but they have stopped. The regulation prevents the local administrations to finance with resources public the services de telecommunications.
Numeration
In the cancellation de licenses, that initially affected more than seven hundred projects, the CMT has made an exception with the active operators that had assigned numeration, that is to say, with clients who could see themselves affected by the loss de license de their provider. It is the case de Carrefour Online, the society de the group de distribution that defers fixed telephony, de Meter Network, the levantina operator, or de Globalcom.
